INDIANAPOLIS — — People do recover from alcohol addiction and that point will be stressed during the Sept. 27 Recovery Ride sponsored by the Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition (IAIC), Indiana Department of Correction, and Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.
Registration is from 8 to 9 p.m. on the west steps of the State Capital building in Indianapolis. The motorcycle ride begins at 9 a.m.
“We hope that Hoosiers will join us for a symbolic victory lap in honor of the thousands of Hoosiers in long-term recovery,” said Deb Richmond, chairperson for IAIC. “It is our intention for the community to realize that long-term recovery is in fact happening in Indiana.”
Cathy Boggs, director of the Division of Mental Health and Addiction, agrees with Richmond and said the event is to celebrate those in recovery and encourage others who are just starting down the road to recovery.
The recovery ride is held during September as a part of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. This year makes the 19th observance of the federal initiative.
