West District YMCA raises more than $90,000

Officials within the West District YMCA organization have reached their greatest fundraising milestone to date. The organization, which has served children in Wayne Township and Hendricks County since 1956, has raised more than $90,000 as part of the Strong Kids Campaign.

That mark is well over the $87,000 fundraising goal that the organization had set at the start of the year.

The West District YMCA has already given away more than $78,000 in scholarship funding in 2008.

Last year the organization contributed $149,000 in funding to more than 300 youth, families, and individuals suffering from financial hardship.

Officials say they are grateful to the businesses, individuals, community agencies, volunteers, and families that have already contributed to this year’s Strong Kids Campaign.

The organization will continue to accept donations from those willing to lend support.
