By Samantha Cooney

INDIANAPOLIS — The annual Weight Watchers Innovations meeting brought people from throughout the state together Sunday at the Marriott Indianapolis North hotel.

The group went with a fishing theme this year — Catch the Energy and Release the Potential.

The meeting included giveaways, a special message from WW President David Kirchhoff, an award ceremony, and idea sharing between staff members.

Weight Watchers International, Inc. is the world’s leading provider of weight management services, operating globally through a network of company-owned and franchise operations. Weight Watchers holds more than 50,000 weekly meetings where members receive group support and education about healthy eating patterns, behavior modification, and physical activity.

The website WeightWatchers.com provides innovative, subscription weight management products over the Internet and is the leading Internet-based weight management provider in the world. In addition, WW offers a range of products, publications, and programs for those interested in weight loss and weight control.

This weekend’s event was hosted by Mitzi Dales, territory manager for Northern Indiana; Angi Trapp, territory manager for Southern Indiana; and Karlene Herman, trainer for Weight Watchers. A special appearance was made by Michael Echenberg, vice president for planning and analysis for Weight Watchers.

Staff members recognized for their time and efforts were rewarded with trophies, pearl necklaces, etched glass award plates, silver clocks, and diamond broaches and pendants.

The highest product sales per attendance was awarded to traveling locations Avon on Tuesday morning and Frankfort on Thursday night. The center locations recognized were Fort Wayne on Tuesday night and Castleton on Monday morning.

Many territory leaders also received awards with a diamond broach for being “diamond” leaders.

Debbie Rickelman of Clermont received the leader of the year award. She attended Northwest High School and has been attending Westside Nazarene Church since the age of 8.

Rickelman currently leads nine Weight Watcher meetings. Her schedule consists of two meetings at Pike Plaza, two at Brownsburg, one at Bartlett Chapel in Avon, one at Westside Nazarene, and one at Castleton.

During this weekend’s gathering, she spoke about her own weight loss struggle. Although her weight has gone up and down throughout her life, she said she lost 130 pounds with Weight Watchers.

“Thank you, Weight Watchers, for a program that has saved my life,” Rickelman said.
