AVON — The Avon-Washington Township Public Library is looking for some assistance in bringing a world famous author and illustrator to Avon.
The library currently sits at 10th in a contest to win the right to host a free Jan Brett visit in Avon.
”We are thrilled and try to keep pushing people toward voting for us,” said Jennifer Worley, manager of the library’s children’s department. “There are over 5,000 schools and libraries in this contest. It’s very exciting. There are only about 400 votes separating first place from 10th place.”
Worley said that if the library is fortunate enough to win the contest, they will be looking to host Brett at a larger facility, such as one of the school auditoriums.
She said that during the visit, Brett will do a presentation on her books, many of which are featured in the library’s collection.
The top 10 finishers receive autographed books. While Worley admitted that would be nice, she said she is still looking to win it all.
The contest continues until the end of March. To vote for Avon, visit the website at www.janbrett.com and click on the link.
