PLAINFIELD — A suspect in multiple robberies here was apprehended Thursday in Indianapolis after a search by Plainfield police.
Plainfield resident Jason Currens, 37, was wanted for questioning in a series of robberies March 16.
The cases involve robbery, residential entry, theft, forgery, and fraud.
Plainfield Police Lt. Jill Lees said they are investigating Currens in a robbery at the Circle S gas station near downtown Plainfield and at least one other robbery at a Plainfield residence.
“He is wanted for questioning as a possible suspect in a robbery at the Circle S gas station, which occurred March 16 at about 12 a.m.,” she said. “Also on the same date, at approximately 5:30 p.m., (it is suspected that he) entered a residence in Plainfield occupied by an elderly female and took cash and a cell phone.”
Lees said a Plainfield detective got a tip to Currens’ location somewhere in Indianapolis and went with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers to apprehend him.
“He ended up going to Wishard Hospital, he resisted law enforcement and was apprehended by canine,” she said. “He will go to Marion County jail before he heads our way. I don’t know the extent of his injuries.”
Lees said no one was injured in either incident. Currens was released from jail or prison, though Lees said she was unaware as to where he was being held and on what charges.
Lees said they did not know if Currens was armed, so they were urging extreme caution from the public.
“We’re trying to prevent him from committing any more crimes. Obviously, there is the potential of someone getting hurt and we want to get this all sorted out. We want to investigate that robbery and see if he was a part of it,” she said.
