The Hendricks County Flyer invites all candidates running for office in the primary election to stop by the Flyer office at 8109 Kingston St., Avon, for a Candidate Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. March 18.
Candidates are encouraged to bring along brief biographies to be printed in a Countdown to the Primary special section that will be published prior to the election. They may also bring photos of themselves, or a Flyer photographer will be available to take photos that evening.
Advertising representatives will also be available to meet individually with each candidate attending.

Hendricks County Sheriff Dave Galloway will be hosting a Meet and Greet Open House from 7 to 9 p.m. March 18 at the Prestwick Gazebo in Avon.
Galloway invites all in the community to stop by to meet him.
Donations will be accepted for his re-election campaign.

The Hendricks County Republican Women’s Organization will sponsor a Candidate Night at 6:30 p.m. March 22 in rooms four and five of the Hendricks County Government Center in Danville.
The 2010 contested county office candidates for the Republican primary election will be given time to express views on pertinent issues. Guests will be given the opportunity to meet the candidates and, if time allows, ask questions.
This event is open to all in the community.

Danville Community High School teacher Mike Neilson’s first- and fifth-period government classes will be sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates Night” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 8 in the school auditorium.
Several Indiana candidates running for federal, county, and school board positions have been invited to share a four-minute speech introducing themselves, the office they are running for, and their campaign. The candidates will also have an area to display their campaign material.
All Hendricks County residents are invited to attend the free event. Refreshments will be available during intermission. People will also have the opportunity to speak to candidates or representatives during this time.
Candidates invited include those running for U.S. senator, U.S. representative, state representative, prosecuting attorney, county recorder, and Danville School Board.
Danville Community High School is at 100 Warrior Way, Danville.

The Indy Defenders of Liberty West, a local tea party with members in west Indianapolis, Danville, Brownsburg, and Avon, will host a candidate forum for the public to meet the Republican U.S. House District 4 candidates from 1 to 4 p.m. April 10 at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex in Danville.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the candidates,” said tea party volunteer Robert Storm. “Since Representative Steve Buyer has said he will step down, the field of candidates has become quite large. This is a great chance to meet the candidates face to face to help you decide how to cast your vote in the primary.”
Candidates will be available from 1-2 p.m. The formal program will begin at 2 p.m., during which each candidate will have a chance to make a statement and answer one or two questions. After the program, candidates will again be available to speak to those attending.
“Overwhelmingly, our members are trying to learn more about the Republican candidates,” said Amelia West, membership chair of the group. “This activity falls under one of our goals to keep the public and our members informed. We are excited to hold this event as a service to the people in District 4 and hope to have good attendance.”
The group’s mission is to promote limited government, fiscal responsibility, and accountable representation through citizen education and activism in order to preserve the U.S. Constitution. Its membership has grown considerably over the year as interest from people that want to become more involved in 2010 elections has ballooned.
