PLAINFIELD — With the upcoming spring wedding season in mind, the Hendricks County Flyer and the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted the sixth annual Brides to Be Expoat Five Star Catering at Primo’s West on Saturday.
”It’s always hectic to get something prepared, but once the day is here, it’s actually kind of nice to see it all come together,”said David Johnson, sales director for the Hendricks County Flyer. “We have some quality vendors in there. The facility looks great. I’m just excited to see how many brides that we have today andhow many visitors that we get.”
The show provides a one-stop location for prospective brides to check out their options.
”I think it just makes for nice availabilityfor the bride,” Johnson said. “It’s a good way for them to just kind of knock it out in one day. The thing that I was encouraged with this year was thegood range of what we have. We’ve had some years where we’ve had maybe too many photographers or too many this or that. This year, we have a good mixture of everything.”
In addition, one of the biggest goals of the show is to show local options.
”The goal of this show is to have as many local vendors as possible,” Johnson said. ‘We’re all about supporting our local vendors and trying to maintain relationships with them.”
This year, David’s Bridal and the Men’s Warehouse came aboard as well.
”They’ve been great to work with,” he said. “They’ve provided the models (for the ‘strolling fashion show’). They’vebrought some very nice things --very nice situations, tuxes, and dresses. I think it really added an extra touch to it.”
In addition to showcasing what they have to offer, Five Star Catering at Primo’s West played host to the event.
”Primo’s has always been great to work with,” Johnson said. “It’s a first-class facility. They treat us just in the exact same way, first class. They’re very accommodating to anything that we need. It’s just a pleasure tocome back here because you don’t have to worry about a lot going wrong or something not going the way that it should. It’s nice to have the worry off your shoulders.”
