CNHI

— BELLEVILLE - Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post have arrested a Coatesville man and his girlfriend for theft and burglary at a Danville residence.

The arrests occurred approximately 1 p.m. Sept. 2. Detectives Jeff Hearon and Sam Stearley were investigating burglaries that had been reported in the area and had developed information that a possible suspect would be in the area of U.S. 40 and State Road 75 and could possibly be in possession of stolen articles.

The detectives observed the suspect vehicle stop at the Marathon gas station on U.S. 40 near S.R. 39 and spoke to the male subject, Benjamin T. Stokes, 27, of Coatesville, as he entered the building. Driving the vehicle was Stokes' girlfriend, Angelica M. Dickenson, 24, of Frankfort. While speaking with the couple, detectives observed two Stihl chainsaws and a Stihl weedeater in the vehicle. Further investigation found that the tools had been reported stolen from a residence in Danville recently.

Detectives also recovered another Stihl weedeater at a residence in Coatesville that had been reported stolen from the same Danville residence.

Stokes and Dickenson were transported the Hendricks County jail without incident and incarcerated on the charges of burglary and theft. Each is being held on a $40,000 dollar commercial only bond.

The burglary charges are Class C felonies and the theft charges are Class D felonies.
