Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County is currently in need of available and affordable building lots - specifically in Plainfield, Avon, Danville, and Brownsburg.
Residents paying property taxes on property they don't need can donate that lot and receive a tax deduction, and possibly raise their property value. They would also be helping a family in need of a simple, decent, and affordable place to call home.
Habitat just completed a new home at 23 Butler St., Plainfield, that made a significant improvement in that neighborhood.
Building new homes is just one of five areas of service Habitat is involved in under the name of Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI.) Properties for rehab and renovation are also part of the program. Weatherization, exterior renovation, and accessibility are other programs within NRI.
