INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives and officers with the Southwest Neighborhood Resource Office collaborated in arresting 28-year-old Timothy Pepper of Plainfield in connection with a musical equipment heist from a rock band’s trailer.
On Jan. 27, Joe Meyer with the band For the Taking reported that he had parked a vehicle in the Candlewood Inn Suites parking lot. Upon returning to the vehicle, Meyer said he noticed markings on the U-Haul trailer and then discovered that multiple items were missing.
The band was scheduled to play that night at the Sky Bar Lounge on Meridian Street and was forced to rent equipment for the show.
IMPD officers ramped up their investigation Jan. 31 when the band’s manager reported that the band’s stolen equipment had made its way to a Craigslist advertisement.
Dana Franklin, who had booked the band for the show, had put an ad on Craigslist seeking information on the stolen property. That netted her an e-mail from an unknown person advising her to check a Facebook page of a pawn store that had photos of the stolen property.
About 6 a.m. Feb. 3, police served a search warrant at a Plainfield home that resulted in the discovery of two guitars and other musical equipment that was identified as belonging to For the Taking.
Pepper was interviewed and subsequently arrested. He was preliminarily charged with theft-receiving stolen property and was taken to the Arresting Processing Center to await formal charges.
