LIZTON — Indiana State Police are investigating a car crash that killed two men early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened just after 3 a.m. at the Interstate 74 rest area near Lizton.
Investigators say a semi-tractor trailer was parked on the shoulder near the rest area's entrance. Police say David Antoine Tarpy, 28, of Noesho, Mo., was driving a 2004 Pontiac westbound on I-74 when he lost control of the vehicle and it went under the semi. Tarpy was killed along with his front-seat passenger Brad Alan Morrison, 30, also of Noesho. The Hendricks County Coroner pronounced both dead at the scene. Their families have been notified.
ISP says the driver of the semi was sleeping in the berth at the time of the crash and wasn't injured. The official report states it was snowing at the time and may have contributed to the crash. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, ISP's Indianapolis district had responded to 27 cases of property damage, as well as six personal injuries and 10 slide-offs.
The Hendricks County Sheriff's Office also assisted with the investigation.
