Chamber seeks economic development director

The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce recently announced its search to fill the role of director for Marion County economic development.

Documents finalizing the merger between Develop Indy, the Marion County local economic development organization, the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Indy Partnership, and Business Ownership Initiative of Indiana were signed earlier this year. Melissa Todd, who served as interim president of Develop Indy since December, has transitioned to serve as chief operating officer (COO) of the merged organization.

"Develop Indy has played a critical role in job growth in Marion County and as we look to capitalize upon the strong business climate in Indianapolis, we are committed to finding the strongest candidate with the highest qualifications," Todd said in a press release. "Indianapolis is in the national spotlight as a great place to do business. Our highly skilled workforce and stable tax climate position our city well for continued job growth and economic development of our city and our region as a whole."

Individuals interested in the economic development leadership role may view the job description online at IndyChamber.com/538/the-chamber/chamber-careers.aspx. The position will be filled by the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce with input from Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. Until the position is filled, the Marion County economic development team will be led by Mark Fisher. Fisher was previously the director of engagement at Develop Indy and may be reached by calling 808-3257 or by e-mailing to mfisher@developindy.com.
