Center Stage to present romantic comedy
There will be snow in August when Center Stage Community Theatre presents “Almost, Maine.”
Opening Aug. 14 , the romantic comedy by John Cariani will run for three weekends: 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 23, and 30. Call (765) 894-5587 for reservations.
Set in a small mythical town in northern Maine, the Northern Lights hover over the residents of Almost as they fall in and out of love in unexpected and sometimes hilarious ways. The big starry sky of vast Aroostook County, flat country full of potato farms, looks down on Almost’s 300 citizens as they live and love in an “unorganized territory,” a county as large as Massachusetts. On a single January night, magical things can happen.
The cast includes Gordon Ayres (“The Fantasticks,” CSCT), Emily Dickos Crickmore (“Blithe Spirit,” Carmel Community Players), Earl Campbell (“The Mousetrap at the Belfry”), Liz Nielsen (“The Boys Next Door,” CSCT), Stephanie Sanders Leavell (“Crazy Ladies in the House on the Corner,” CSCT) and newcomer Mike Scaggs. This group is directed by Laurie Atwater (“The Fantasticks,” “Talking With ...,” CSCT). Scenic design is by award-winning set designer David Wines, who is also producer. Lighting design and special effects are by Ashley Sims.
