Here they grow again for a second time

DANVILLE — Here We Grow Again is planning its second westside children’s consignment sale, Aug. 24-26 in the expo hall at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex.

Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 24, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25, and noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 26. There also will be a pre-sale 2-4 p.m. Aug. 23, where families with a woman or one with a spouse that is a member of the military, law enforcement, or a teacher can come and shop the sale early. Bring a form of identification confirming it and shop with a 50 percent discount.

That makes the event one of the first sales of the consignment sale season.  With the majority of children’s seasonal consignments sales being conducted in the Carmel area, this sale gives westside residents a chance to save on gas while saving money on items needed for their children.

The first sale took place on April 13 through 15 and saw beginning successes. It brought in around 800 shoppers and sold more 7,000 items.  Almost 100 consignors were able to save some money before summer started. Now that the word is out, the second sale is forecasted to be even larger.

Not only will HWGA save local families money and help them make money, two local charities will be also benefit from the sale.

A toy drive will be conducted for the Riley Children Hospital’s Cheer Guild, as well as specially-donated items being sold with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the guild. The Cheer Guild provides toys and comfort for children in treatment at Riley Hospital. Jordan’s Place of Brownsburg, a charity that provides toys and clothing to foster children in Indiana, will receive all of the unsold items that are marked for donation.

HWGA uses a bar coding system that aims to make tagging and selling easier. Not only does it give the seller the ability to tag the items easily, it also allows sales to be tracked from home during the sale to keep up with how much money the seller has made. Checks are mailed within 10 business days of the sale.

HWGA was started by two Brownsburg moms, Kori McCallie and Katie Awwad, who brought the idea from Kansas City to Hendricks County when McCallie moved to the area in June of last year.

Additionally, if any individual has no time to price and tag their items, they can contact HWGA and ask them about their express tagging service online at herewegrowagain.com/indianapolis. They also sell Grow With Me consignor starter kits that include everything needed to get started. No cribs are sold at the consignment sale due to recent federal recalls.
