The Fire Department of Liberty Township allowed children a sneak peek inside some of the trucks and turned on the sirens and horns for all to see.
Body art and face painting were just a few of the activities set up for kids to enjoy at the Hazelwood Fish Fry and Tractor Pull.
After crossing the finish line, volunteers raced out to push a tired tractor off the side of the track to make way for the next competitor.
Fans in attendance for the tractor pull tried creative ways to keep cool in the searing summer sun, such as bringing umbrellas for built in shade.
Ready to race, the tractors line up to put on a show.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Fire Department of Liberty Township made the decision Friday that due to extreme heat and dryness, it would be in the best interest of the community to cancel the fireworks show that typically ends the Hazelwood Fish Fry and Tractor Pull, but the popular event still continues to draw crowds during the one-of-a-kind evening.

Fireworks will be scheduled at a later date, pending weather changes. The Fire Department of Liberty Township has taken all the precautionary measures to make sure the typically over 10,000 attendees will be kept safe during the unusually high temperatures.

Indianapolis champions lung cancer cause
Local residents are fueling the national movement to double lung cancer survival at the inaugural Free to Breathe Indianapolis Run/Walk June 22 at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.

The event will feature a 5k run/walk and 1-mile walk, followed by a rally, tot trot, silent auction, and family activities. Proceeds from the event support the National Lung Cancer Partnership’s programs dedicated to doubling lung cancer survival by 2022.
