Authorities seeking suspect in attempted bank robbery

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are searching for a suspect who robbed one bank and attempted to rob another.

The suspect attempted to robbed the Chase Bank at 215 E. 38th St. on Friday and was successful in robbing the PNC Bank at 1714 N. Meridian St. later that day.

Officers were dispatched to a bank robbery in progress at the PNC location shortly after 2 p.m.

The suspect was described as a black male, with a stocky build, about 5Õ7Ó tall, wearing a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt with white vertical stripes, and sunglasses.

During the robbery, the suspect demanded money from the teller, specifically in $100 and $50 bills.

Police say the suspect fled the scene heading westbound and was later seen northbound in between 16th and Illinois streets in a maroon, older model minivan. No money was taken during the incident.

A weapon was implied, but not seen and no injuries were reported.

There is a cash reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
