HCSWMD seeks nominees for environmental education award

CNHI

— The Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District is dedicated to promoting recycling, waste reduction, and responsible waste management within Hendricks County.

One of the most important ways the district carries out that mission is through education. Whether they are passing out information and resources or providing school programs for children, district staff members are always eager to "talk trash" with community residents to spread the word on responsible waste management.

Through their efforts to provide environmental education to the public, Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District employees have met many individuals in the community who share the same values and goals as the district. These individuals come from many different backgrounds and organizations. Examples include teachers who reuse household items for lesson plans to business employees who start work recycling programs. Whether it is part of their job or a personal commitment, the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District wants to recognize and applaud community members for their hard work to provide environmental education and promote responsible waste management.

The Environmental Education Award is awarded in recognition of individuals whose work in the community represents the district's mission. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Environmental Education Award.

The form is available online at HendricksSolidWaste.com. Nomination forms should be completed and returned no later than Oct. 1. The selected recipient will be awarded at the district board meeting on Nov. 27.

Community residents interested in nominating themselves or someone else should complete the nomination form and return it to: Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District, 104 E. Main St., Brownsburg, IN 46112. Nomination forms may also be returned to the district via fax at 858-6071.
