When are females younger than 17 considered girls? When they want an aspirin from the school nurse. In that case, the nurse needs permission from their parents. After all, legally they are juveniles - still children.
But when those same females want to buy a "morning-after" birth-control pill, they are considered "women" - adults who should have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies, free of any parental interference.

There are few things sadder than the "climate denier." He ignores the data and neglects the latest science. His rhetoric and policy proposals are dangerously disconnected from reality. He can't recalibrate to take account of the latest evidence because, well, he's a denier.

It is a sign of how far supporters of gay marriage have advanced that the term "opposite-sex marriage" - an infelicitous phrase that once would have been a confounding tautology - is now in common usage.
I'm going to ignore the U.S. Supreme Court figuring out how to explain that the right to gay marriage has been enshrined in the Fourteenth Amendment since 1868 and they just hadn't noticed it until now; and focus on a less momentous, but equally interesting result of political correctness - the demise of the academic honor roll.
An NPR broadcast examines the question of how communities can better prepare for tornadoes like the one that struck Moore, Okla. on Monday. The broadcast features commentary from Michael Fitzgerald, who reported a five-part disaster series for the CNHI News Service.
Grilling is a simple way to feed your family well this summer. Start with a lean meat and a healthful marinade and then allow the grill to strip away additional fat for a heart-healthy and waist-friendly final result. Plus, grilling caramelizes the natural sugars in foods, which adds flavor without additional calories and fat.
