Avon graudate

finishes course

Laura D. Amschler graduated from the U.S. Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.

The 32 days of training are meant to provide the best professional training and evaluation for all cadets in the aspects of military life, administration, and logistical support.

Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program, and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve.

Amschler is the daughter of James C. and Patricia M. Amschler of Avon. She is a 2006 graduate of Avon High School.



Indianapolis man

enlists in U.S.A.F.

Rorrie S. Yeisley of Indianapolis recently enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

Upon completing the Air Force’s six-week basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, Yeisley is scheduled to receive training in the electronics area. He enlisted under the Air Force’s six-year program and upon completion of his technical training will receive a promotion to E-3.

Yeisley will be earning credits toward an associate degree in applied sciences through the Community College of the Air Force while attending basic and technical training schools.
