Acton anniversary

V. Lloyd and Marsha (Quearry) Acton, lifelong residents of Avon, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married June 9, 1962, at Faith Baptist church in Avon, with Mr. Acton’s father, the late Rev. Leslie Acton presiding.

Both graduated from Avon High School and remained heavily involved in the school community until retirement.

Mrs. Acton earned a teaching license in home economics from Indiana State University. She taught at Ben Davis High School, Avon High School, and Avon Middle School before retiring in 2001.

Mr. Acton attended Butler University where he played basketball, before entering the U.S. Air Force and serving for four years. He retired from Eli Lilly in 2000, after 42 years of service. He served on the Avon Community School Board for 28 years and was president of the Indiana School Board Association.

They Actons are members of Kingsway Christian Church.

Throughout their marriage they have served together on short-term mission trips. And their love of traveling recently took their to their 50th national park.

They are the parents of Stacy (Bill) Sanford of Plainfield, Jyme Acton of Avon, and Jeffrey (Courtney) Acton of Hanford, Calif. They are the grandparents of Kailey Sanford of Plainfield and Coen, Addison, and Eliza Acton of Hanford.
