Property taxes being mailed now

Hendricks County Treasurer Nancy Marsh announced this week that legislative changes have been applied and the Hendricks County 2008 taxes payable in ‘09 are being printed and mailed now.

This is the only notice property owners will receive for both installments as tax statements are mailed once a year to save tax dollars. The first installment (spring A) is due on or before Sept. 18 and the second installment (fall B) is due on or before Nov. 20.

Page two of the statement, the TS-1, contains information specific to each property including assessed value and deductions, plus three years of billing history.

Those who have not received a bill by Aug. 24 and that wasn’t paid out of a mortgage escrow should call the treasurer’s office immediately at 745-9220. Payments should be mailed in the return envelope or addressed to the Hendricks County Treasurer, P.O. Box 6037, Indianapolis, IN 46206-6307.

Operating hours for the treasurer’s office are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office also will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 18. The office is on the top southeast corner of the Hendricks County Government Center, 355 S. Washington St., Danville.

Payments are accepted at the following banks with the payment coupon: Hendricks County Bank & Trust, First Merchants Bank, First National Bank, M & I Bank, North Salem State Bank, and State Bank of Lizton. Payments are not posted until they are received by the Hendricks County Treasurer.

Credit card payments are available through a third-party provider. A convenience fee of 3.5 percent will be added to the total. Hendricks County does not receive any portion of the convenience fee. Pay at the treasurer’s counter, online at www.govpaynow.com, or by calling (888) 604-7888. Customers will be asked for the Pay Location Code (PLC) of 6497 and the tax duplicate number located on their statement.

To facilitate financial planning, Hendricks County is able to offer a direct payment plan to escrow taxes on a monthly basis. Residents can obtain the authorization form online at www.co.hendricks.in.us or call the office at 745-9220 for assistance. Local units of government will obtain these payments through advance draws.
