Wilkerson anniversary

Wayne and Judi (Gentry) Wilkerson of Brownsburg recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married in June of 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Branch.

Mrs. Wilkerson worked at Brownsburg Health Care and retired from Lourdes Inc. Health Care Campus in Waterford, Mich., where she worked as director of campus activities. Over the years she has volunteered at her church, in area nursing homes, and at her children’s schools in Brownsburg.

Mr. Wilkerson worked more than 30 years at Indiana National Bank and retired in 1999 from Banc One. He enjoys fishing, golfing, traveling, and attending Brownsburg High School sporting events. He is a member of the INB Retired Officers’ organization.

The Wilkersons are members of Connection Pointe Christian Church.

They are the parents and in-laws of Theresa Hill and husband Stan of Columbus, Doug Wilkerson and wife Care of Winter Haven, Fla., and Jill Doak and husband Eric of Grand Blanc, Mich. They are the grandparents of Ethan and Autumn Hill, Lyndsey Wilkerson, and Caden and Calder Doak.

The couple and their children hosted a “Lost in the Fifties’” party at the Hendricks County Conference Center on June 9. The party featured 1950s music and dancing to Motown and Doo-wop songs around the Ô50s decorations that included a photo op at a large record arch. Guests were decked out in Ô50s attire as they enjoyed ice cream sundaes and floats from the ice cream parlor, retro bottled drinks, food, and an old fashioned candy buffet. The evening also included a hula hoop contest, and beach balls flying in the air while dancing to the sounds of the Beach Boys. A tribute song to those married 50 years or longer was sung by Linda Dewees as the couples danced. The special evening concluded with their guests joining together in a circle of blessing as Dewees sang “The Prayer.”
