Ronald and Jo Ellen (Harmless) Reed celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 5.
Their children are hosting an open house from 4 to 9 p.m. May 12 at the New Winchester School Grounds on State Road 75 South. Dress is casual and those attending should bring lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved to Whitestone Christian Church, west of New Winchester on U.S. 36.
Both are alumni of New Winchester High School with Mr. Reed graduating in 1960 and Mrs. Reed graduating in ‘61.
The Reeds were married May 5, 1962, at New Winchester Christian Church. They began their life together in an apartment in Danville and lived there for a few years before buying their first house just north of New Winchester on S.R. 75. They moved to Brownsburg in August of 1981. They have since moved back to New Winchester.
They belong to Whitestone Christian Church where Mr. Reed is a deacon and Mrs. Reed is the church treasurer.
Mr. Reed worked for more than 30 years at Detroit Diesel Allisons until retiring in 1991. He now works part-time at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. Mrs. Reed has worked for several banking systems, retiring from the North Salem State Bank in 2009.
Mr. Reed is a member of the Groveland Masonic Lodge and both are members of Groveland Order of Eastern Star.
They are the parents Joe Allen and wife Pam of Avon and Ronda Gale and husband Dan of Danville. They are the grandparents of Sarah, Alyssa, Jean Nichole, Allen Keith, and Carolyn Joellen, and the great-grandparents of Neena.
