Alma Sharer Wells celebrated her 90th birthday Sept. 27.
She was born in Colorado, moved to Indiana when she was a teenager, and graduated from Amo High School. She married Calvin E. Wells Jr. in 1938 and they settled on a farm near Hazelwood where they raised their family. Mr. Wells died in 1995 and she continues to live on the family farm.
Her son Bud Wells and his wife, Connie, of Wyoming, and 26 of their children and grandchildren were here to help her celebrate; along with her daughter, Janice Fisher, her husband, David Kennedy, and her nine children and grandchildren, who live on some of the family’s original farmland.
She began her day with Sunday School and church at the Hazelwood Baptist Church, where she has attended since 1937.
There was an open house for her at the Church Activity Building. Friends and family were invited to attend.
She was the hostess for the Sharer Family Reunion at her home later that evening.
