John W. and Sharon Rutledge of Avon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 15 with a dinner party at Green Street Station in Brownsburg.
The couple was married Jan. 29, 1960, in Plainfield. They both attended Ben Davis High School and met at the Steak & Shake at U.S. 40 and Holt Road and have lived their married lives in Hendricks County.
Mr. Rutledge is retired from the Carpenter’s Union and Mrs. Rutledge is retired from McRoberts & Associates Insurance Agency.
Since their retirements, they have traveled around the country and other destinations. They are members of Bartlett Chapel Methodist Church in Avon.
The Rutledges are also celebrating their anniversary with a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Attending the couple’s dinner party were children Tammy Rutledge of Avon, John Rutledge and wife Laura of Danville, and Rick Rutledge and wife Lisa of Monticello. Unable to attend were daughter Jody Harvey and husband Neil of Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Also attending the dinner party were the Rutledges’ grandchildren, Zach Rutledge and friend Rachel Hertel, Brandon Rutledge and fiancé Meg Grady, Justin Rutledge and wife Sonya, Cora Rutledge, Mara Smith, and Elijah Rutledge. Unable to attend were grandchildren Katy and Diana Harvey, and Kara Smith.
Other attendees included Mrs. Rutledge’s brothers, J.R. Kissner and wife Maggie, Larry Kissner and wife Lou, and Greg Kissner and wife Kay; Mr. Rutledge’s sister, Sandi Merritt; Bill Rutledge, Bill and Sara Rutledge Jr.; and friends Don and Phyllis Huffman.
